Services at 8am and 10am, Welcome back Kati!

Hello –

I’m back from my smokey staycation and ready to dig into what looks to be a full fall. I have just two things today.

First, I want to affirm that our services on Sunday will be an 8am Courtyard Worship service and the 10am Distance worship service. The last three Sundays we’ve had rain, smoke and smoke. If conditions are bad like that, we just move our small crew into the church, which we can do as long as it’s fewer than 10 people, and still remain safe. But our hope is to worship together in the Hardin Courtyard. Our 10am service continues through our website and Facebook Live as usual.

Kati, of course, has never left, but she is returning in her role as head of Children and Youth Ministry. Karin has done an excellent job for us and will be staying on in her leadership role in the Martha Collective which, even in pandemic, has been providing the deeply appreciated Mom’s mini-retreats. Kati returns to her role with a fresh enthusiasm to integrate Godly Play with racial awareness.

To that end, she has connected with Cara Meredith, a Bay Area Episcopalian who published an Annie-Lamott-style memoir last year about her experience as a White woman married to a Black man and then having two young Black sons. Her husband is the son of Civil Rights leader James Meredith. It’s an excellent book, which I read and loved, called The Color of Life. Cara will be preaching at St. Paul’s in January.

There’s more good stuff coming down the pike. In the meantime, please join us for worship on Sunday, thank Karin for her excellent work, and welcome back Kati!

Blessings,

Christopher
