Fires & Courtyard Worship at 8:30am

Hello –

First of all, I just want to acknowledge how strange and disorienting these days are, with the added disruption of the smoke. As it happens, our Wednesday Bible Study hit a particularly vivid section of the book of Revelation yesterday (bowls of wrath!) and it was filled with images of smoke. These days feel truly apocalyptic, and it was a relief yesterday to finally reach a chapter in the book that reassured us that we are headed toward a marriage feast with the lamb of God. I hope that in our apocalyptic time, you find a way to keep your imagination and your heart rooted in the good news of God’s love for you, abiding in you, expressed through Jesus, the lamb of God.

Second, our Courtyard Worship will start at 8:30am this Sunday. Attendance has been thin the last few Sundays, due in part, I’m sure, to the smoke. If there are a dozen of you who come to Courtyard Worship this Sunday, we will continue this worship service. If not, we will stop the service for the rest of the fall and winter and look to potentially restart it in the spring.

Finally, some of you may have gotten emails by someone pretending to be me asking for help or money. If you are at all suspicious, please look at the email address. If it’s from a gmail account and it’s not c.h.mrtn@gmail.com, but something else using my name, it’s not from me. All of my Episcopal colleagues are all getting hacked in this exact same way. And shoot up a prayer for the poor little wicked souls that dream up and execute such schemes.

Blessings,

Christopher
