An Infusion of PrayWorshipServe

Hello –

The basic rhythm of life at St. Paul’s is PrayWorshipServe. The season of Lent starts two weeks from tomorrow. Lent is the perfect time to try out something new for yourself for forty days.

Here are three things to keep your eye on:

• Pray. This Sunday, after the 10am service I finally begin my class on the Christian practices, which begins with a how-what-when-where-why of daily prayer. Also, both Tuesday and Thursday there are about half a dozen of us who gather for morning prayer at 7:30am in the church.

• Worship. This Lent, at both the 8am and the 10am service, I will be doing my four part teaching on the how and why of our worship service over the course of four weeks. The teaching will be integrated into the worship.

• Serve. The easiest way to get going on service is to dedicate five hours through the course of Lent to serving at St. Vincent’s soup kitchen. The training is the second Wednesday of every month at 2:30pm and the fourth Sunday at 2:30pm. So, the next two are February 10th and February 28th. Once you’re trained, they are very flexible in terms of times and tasks. (Of course our other six Outreach programs have places to fit in too!)

There you have 20+1+5. Twenty minutes of prayer a day, an hour a week of worship and five hours through Lent of service! Here’s the website if want more.

Two final brief notes. First, a great thank you to all of you who made the Annual Meeting such an exciting and even moving event. A special thanks to Katie who adds great food and even greater humor to the proceedings.

Also, please save the date of Saturday, March 7th. You won’t want to miss this two hour workshop, from 9am to 11am, on Discipleship Groups, the very core of who we are in Jesus.

Blessings,

Christopher
