Fat Tuesday Sunday

Hello –

This Sunday is our second annual Fat Tuesday Sunday. Last year, nearly seventy of you stayed after church to eat great food, hang out with great people and generally enjoy a Mardis Gras atmosphere. It’s time to do it again!

Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. As you may know, Lent is the forty days before Easter and is viewed as an austere time of spiritual preparation. Fat Tuesday, or, in French ‘Mardis Gras,’ has traditionally been the last day of feasting before the fasting begins.

On Sunday, we celebrate like it’s Tuesday night. It’s a joyful way to be together. I’m cooking the Jambalaya, Tenesa is baking a King Cake and there will be lots of sides and lots of drinks. There will be jazz and fun decorations created by our kids.

Ironically, I will also, at the same time, be continuing my series on the practice of prayer upstairs, at least at the beginning. To create a variation on a cliche, come pray hard and party hard!

Finally, just so you can mark your calendars, remember that Ash Wednesday services are at 7:30am, noon and 6:30 pm. Remember also that the great gathering for Discipleship Groups is Saturday March 7th from 9am to 11am.

Blessings,

Christopher
