What You Get from a D-Group

Hello –

This Saturday from 9am to 11am is a two hour workshop and ‘Come and See’ experience at St. Paul’s about Discipleship Groups. Discipleship Groups are small groups that are structured to help you mature as a Christian. We have five of them at St. Paul’s, some of which are open to new people. Furthermore, I’m always enthusiastic to help start new ones.

But what else might you get out of being in a group?

As you may know, Discipleship Groups always start by saying aloud seven vows. In this brief email, I want to share the sixth with you. It is:

“By God’s grace, I will listen for God’s call on my life, confident that I have been given ‘a manifestation of the Spirit for the common good’ entrusting my Discipleship Group to test and support that call.’

Over time, the people in Discipleship Groups know and trust each other well enough to help each other figure out the best use of their unique gifts. The quote within the vow is from Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth (12:7). That scripture quote is a basic affirmation that each of us has something to contribute, in each season of our lives, to the greater good. What is that for you?

Discipleship Groups are a time-tested way to discover your unique call and follow it. Come this Saturday at 9am and find out more.

Blessings,

Christopher
