News of Three Friends

Hello –

I wanted to share with you news of three friends: Helenclare, Kirsten and Daniel.

The news of Helenclare isn’t so much news as it is a reminder that tomorrow, Saturday, at 11am we gather at St. Paul’s for her funeral. Helenclare’s spirit was strong and kind and she was one of our matriarchs. We are who we are today thanks in part to her.

The Rev. Kirsten Snow Spalding is the rector of Nativity and she and I will be ‘swapping pulpits’ this Sunday. Kirsten is a great friend and colleague. Not only do Nativity and St. Paul’s already share the Marin Episcopal Youth Group, the San Rafael Street Chaplaincy and the Teen Success Breakfast, Kirsten and I believe both our churches will continue to grow stronger as we continue to share and work together. We hope our swap is received as one symbol of our confidence in shared ministry.

Finally, the leader of the Marin Episcopal Youth Group for the last four years and for the coming year, the Rev. Daniel London, defends his doctoral dissertation on scapegoating in the Gospel of John this coming Thursday. Please pray that we can all call him Dr. London soon!

Blessings,

Christopher
