A Snapshot of Vitality

Hello –

As you consider what to put on the pledge card you bring to church on Sunday for In-Gathering Sunday, gaze for a brief moment on the 5 things St. Paul’s is making happen this Saturday:

Richard invited his friend Terry, who lives in Thomas Keaton’s monastery of Snowmass for 11 months of the year, to offer a Centering Prayer workshop. It’s at 9am at the home of the Dominican Sisters. He wanted to have it at St. Paul’s, but he couldn’t because of these next 4 things.

Tom is the head of the next Kairos, which is a Christian immersion experience for Mainline prisoners at San Quentin. His team of 55 people will be in Duncan Hall all day Sunday singing songs and preparing for the February prison experience. (He invites you to welcome the prisoners at the end of that weekend experience, Contact Tom.)

I will be welcoming representatives of all 11 Episcopal churches of Marin as we host the quarterly Deanery meeting in the Church. After the business of the meeting, I have been asked to be interviewed about New College of Christian Practice.

Jacob will be leading the RenewalWorks team in their 3rd meeting of prayerfully considering the results of the anonymous Spiritual Life Inventory that 84 of us took. The Inventory gave a beautiful picture of where we are now and a compelling image of where we need to go. In the morning, they will be in Room 10, which is now, out of necessity, being used regularly.

Sue will be helping lead the third monthly meeting in the afternoon of a support group for family members who visit loved ones on Death Row. They meet their loved one in the morning, support each other in the early afternoon and then drive back to places like Reading and Fresno.

All of this is only possible because of your generosity. What I believe we are witnessing on days like Saturday, is the emergence of 1123 Court Street as a necessary campus for Christian ministry in Marin. Please give generously in 2019. Without this campus and these people, how can these benevolent things happen?

Blessings,

Christopher
