It is a great gift to me to be here, in this place and at this time, with all of you! I’m grateful for your hospitality and for the honor of being entrusted by your Rector with the care and feeding of St. Paul’s while he is away. As I said to Christopher, I will try hard not to burn the place down.
The question we heard last Sunday—What are you doing here?—has stayed with me. What are we doing here, in this between-time while Christopher is away? There is so much more going on than merely “vamping-until-ready” as we await his return. In the coming weeks, spiritual leaders in this community of faith will be stepping forward and speaking out about exactly what we are doing and what we hope to do, here, in this place and at this time.
This Sunday, June 30, The Rev. Carol Luther will speak with us about Education for Ministry (EfM). Carol is also going to lead a Summer Book Club at St. Paul’s.
So stay tuned and stay awake! I look forward to seeing you and walking with you for this part of the journey.
