Hello –
Tonight at 7pm you can participate in a virtual Stations of the Cross, a traditional service where we walk alongside Jesus as he is put on trial and carries his cross through Jerusalem on the way to Golgatha.
My colleague the Rev. Kirsten Snow-Spalding has created a beautiful slide deck of images of our sister church, Nativity, with its bold cross with the view of Lucas Valley and it’s lovely images of the Stations. Kirsten and I, along with our colleagues the Rev. Stacey Grossman of St. Francis, Novato and the Rev. Jim Ward of Redeemer, will be reading the prayers at each station.
Virtual Stations of the Cross will be the debut service on a new Facebook Page called Episcopal Churches of Novato and San Rafael. Do not fear! It is the same as going to the Facebook page of St. Paul’s, San Rafael. You do not need to be a member of Facebook to participate.
Please check out the new Facebook page now. And if you are a member of Facebook, please like it. Here’s the link.

If you prefer to do Stations of the Cross at a different time, our virtual Stations will remain on the Facebook page.
There will be two more services this week on this new Facebook page of Episcopal Churches of Novato and San Rafael. Tomorrow at 7pm we celebrate Maundy Thursday. The service will begin with Jim with the liturgy of the Word, goes to Kirsten for the sermon, then to Stacey for virtual foot washing preparation and finally to Judy and me at St. Paul’s for the stripping of the Altar.
Likewise, the Good Friday service at noon will be shared. Jacob will be serving as our director, making it all run as smoothly as we can manage.
Easter morning at 9am will return to the St. Paul’s Facebook page.
We are celebrating all of these services virtually this year. However, what we celebrate, that Jesus shared a meal with his disciples and said do this in remembrance of me; that he died on the cross for our sins; and that he rose from the dead to show that love is stronger than death; none of these things is virtual. They are each the most REAL things of all.
