Vestry Meets Tonight at 6pm

Hello –

Your Vestry, the governing board of St. Paul’s, has met unofficially almost every Saturday since shelter-in-place has begun. They have been meeting with me and the RenewalWorks Group, which happens to have four people who used to be Senior Warden, that is, the lay head of the Vestry.

However, none of these meetings since March have been official Vestry meetings. This is because official Vestry meetings, where you pass motions that go into the minutes and actually take action like spending money or making necessary changes to the budget, must be public and open to the congregation, if they wish to attend.

This email is to let you know that your Vestry meets tonight for an hour at 6pm on Zoom and it is an open meeting. We will be reviewing our Saturday meetings since March to see if there is anything that requires a vote. We will also be hearing an update on the Legacy Society from Bruce B., looking at the financials and, finally, reviewing our plans to move toward Courtyard Worship.

In our polity, the Vestry has canonical authority over the finances and the campus and informal authority to provide vision and spiritual leadership. For many at St. Paul’s, joining the Vestry was what deepened a sense of membership and belonging. As you’ll see if you join us tonight, your Vestry is a benevolent and good humored crew. We are blessed. Email me at c.h.mrtn@gmail.com for the Zoom link.

I hope you enjoyed being led in worship by my good colleague, Lynn. I had the best Father’s Day ever, camping and climbing in Idaho with Chloe, Harper and Simon.

Blessings,

Christopher
