Hello –
One of the great gifts of being Episcopalian is the depth and dignity of the words and rituals that mark the great transitions in life. In the next month and a half we have the privilege of welcoming two people into the family of the church through the sacrament of baptism, and of ritually placing three people into God’s loving hands through the pastoral office of the Burial of the Dead.
9/10 This Sunday we baptize toddler Jacob M. a part of a family that is a loyal part of our extended St. Paul’s family.
9/23 On this Saturday, at 11am, we have the funeral of Ellen, A, the mother of Neils. Ellen loved coming to St. Paul’s and came regularly over a decade ago. It is good that Neils and his family have reconnected with us.
9/30 This Saturday is the funeral of Jane S. at 11am. Larry S. wanted me to be sure and tell all of you that you are welcome to come to Jane’s funeral. Jane was a matriarch of St. Paul’s and we all miss her terribly. I will be wearing the beautiful vestments she made.
10/14 This Saturday is Vince’s funeral at 3pm. The service will feature some of Vince’s music. He wrote some pieces particularly for St. Paul’s. Vince and Ken quickly become beloved and important members of St. Paul’s. All are also welcome at this service.
10/15 The next day we have the honor of baptizing Graham’s little brother Teddy. The whole family was at the Back to School Bar-b-que with dad Stuart winning the culinary prize with his outstanding brisket.
With hearts filed with love and gratitude we celebrate, in different ways, the lives of Jacob, Ellen, Jane, Vince and Teddy.
Blessings, Christopher
