Hello –
This morning many of you may have received a text from a 667 number pretending to be from me saying I “urgently need a favor from you.” It’s a scam. Please don’t respond. This happens regularly to me and to all my clergy colleagues. Please don’t ever share anything with these folks who email and text pretending to be me. If you have doubts, ask me first.
Now onto other announcements, beginning with a sad one.
• Jack B. died on Monday morning. As I’ve announced in church the last two Sundays, Jack fell and fractured his pelvis. While beginning rehab, he caught pneumonia which is what killed him. He was 98 years old and much loved by all of us. His funeral will be Saturday, November 4th, at 2pm. Special thanks to Mike and Peggy who have been managing Jack’s affairs through this time.
• Make lunches for our homeless neighbors this afternoon at 4:30pm in Duncan Hall. It takes well under an hour and is a time of joyful teamwork.
• This Sunday Erin will be offering a class about Bishops and the Diocese right after church and I will be offering the first session of Basic Discipleship. (If there are folks who want to do both I’ll delay the start of Basic Discipleship until the next Sunday.) In Basic Discipleship I help you get into a daily rhythm of prayer and tell your own spiritual story.
• The afternoon of next Saturday, the 28th, Kati, Kate and Diana will be at a table on 4th Street sharing the good news of St. Paul’s with all the Halloween Trick or Treaters. 4th Street will be closed to cars for this annual event. Come on by and say hello!
• Next week Lorrie and I are going to change the days that we’re in the office together. Our office hours will now be Wednesday and Friday 10am to 3pm, not Tuesday and Thursday. This is because of a change in schedule for Lorrie’s other job, but as we thought it through together the shift also works very well for the rhythm of life at St. Paul’s too.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Jack. Bless his bones!
Blessings, Christopher
