Sunday and Holy Week

Hello –

First of all, our Bible Study of the Gospel of John continues tonight at 6:15pm, and you’re welcome to jump in. Email me at c.h.mrtn@gmail.com and I’ll send you the Zoom invitation. We’re on Chapter 6.

Second, we continue to work on improvements to the Sunday 9am Facebook Live Service. We’re learning as we’re going. We had a technical difficulty last week, which meant we didn’t go live until right at 9am. This week we’re determined to be live at 8:50am. Nonetheless, quite a few more of you joined us. So join us virtually on Sunday. And don’t forget to email me if you have a birthday or anniversary in the month of March so we can pray for you this Sunday. Once again I will be preaching on John’s Gospel.

Palm Sunday is a week from Sunday and that’s the beginning of Holy Week. We will be having 4 Virtual worship services:

• Palm Sunday will be 4/5 at 9am.
• Maundy Thursday will be 4/9 at 7pm.
• Good Friday will be 4/10 at Noon.
• Easter Sunday will be 4/12 at 9am.

This Tuesday, we are going to be preparing Holy Week packages for each of you. They will include:

• A palm frond to wave at the time of the opening hymn on Palm Sunday.
• A packet with all of the hymns we’ll be singing through Holy Week.
• A nail that you can nail into a piece of wood as you virtually participate in our Good Friday Service.
• A baggie with hosts that you can eat at the appropriate time in the liturgies of Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Easter and some Sundays after that.

When they are ready, they will be made available to be picked up from the outside pews on the porch of Duncan Hall, or we can deliver them to you throughout next week. (If you are out of town we can snail mail you at least some of the above packet.)

Please find ways to continue your financial generosity to St. Paul’s. Lorrie has successfully worked with several people to make contributions come directly out of your checking account. Please email Lorrie at lbugatto@stpaulssanrafael.org to set this up or to discuss other ways to continue contributing to St. Paul’s.

If you are experiencing difficulty with either Facebook Live or Zoom, please let us know. We are already working closely, and often successfully, with parishioners to get them engaged with our Virtual St. Paul’s. Two of our beloved parishioners, Della and Bobbie, were able to join us for worship this Sunday even though neither of them has been able for a while to get to the campus by themselves.

Blessings,

Christopher
