Hello –
Our mission is following Jesus together in prayer, worship and service. In each of those three Core Christian Practices there is an open door for you right now:
Prayer At the request of the original Discipleship Group I have created a one-pager that distills the seven most helpful things I’ve learned about getting into and maintaining a rhythm of 20 minutes of prayer a day. Copies are on the table by the entrance to Duncan Hall. Grab one.
Worship At the Sunday services right now I am teaching about the intention behind each of the major parts of our service. When we worship, we are putting on a play for an audience of one, for God. My teaching is accompanied by a 3 page description of what we do and why. That teaching is also available on the table by Duncan Hall. Grab one of these too. We’re also handing them out at services.
Service Tomorrow night, Wednesday, is the quarterly meeting of our Death Row Ministry at 5:30 in Duncan Hall. This is a great “come and see” opportunity for one of our 5 major outreach programs. The ministry can be as simple as writing the occasional letter. Here’s a quote form a letter I got back from an inmate:
“You and your church encourage me tremendously. I worry less and am reminded that there are good people and that they care and don’t want my death. Just knowing people care is a great blessing.”
Jesus is on the move. Following Jesus means we are called to be on the move too. Now is a great time to take your next step in one of our three Core Christian Practices of Prayer, Worship and Service.
Blessings,
Christopher
