Hello –
• RenewalWorks. The RenewalWorks group is keeping us focused on becoming spiritual leaders of our own faith. This Sunday, after both services, we are invited to gather with them in Duncan Hall and share stories of our experiences in Lent. Then, in the months ahead we are encouraged to read the Gospel of John along with the Wednesday 10am Bible Study.
• Welcome! Katie T and Kate S are creating great ideas and projects for the next chapter of our ministry of welcoming new folks. God has been sending a lot of new people to us in these last few months. Let’s attend to what Katie, Kate and others are going to be sharing with us!
• St. Paul’s Forward Pat C. is leading a team to help us all be better financial stewards. Among our pledged income, gifts, rent from the school and our very moderate financial reserves, our financial picture can be confusing. St. Paul’s Forward is shining a helpful light on the resources we share at St. Paul’s.
• Campus We are currently pursuing three improvement projects on the campus. This week the new sewer line will be in place, with pipes impervious to the roots of the Redwood trees. We will also likely be moving forward with replacing the retaining wall of the parking lot and the outdoor lights of the education wing.
• The Summer I will be taking some extra time away this summer. My last Sunday will be June 16th and I will be back in time to lead services on August 4th. The Rev. Molly Hawes will be covering the services all 6 weeks that I’m gone, so from June 23rd to July 28th, and also coming in Thursday afternoons this summer to prepare bulletins, make pastoral visits and lead Bible Study.
As it happens, I am preaching at St. John’s Cathedral in Jacksonville this Sunday. They are leaders of The Restoration Project and now have 9 Discipleship Groups. I’ve been asked to go and encourage them even more. Of course I’ll be sharing the teaching on the new vow on Call. So, Molly will be leading services at St. Paul’s this Sunday too. I will be leading Sunday services at St. Paul’s the last Sunday of May then and the first 3 Sundays of June.
