A Short Course

Hello –

For the second year in a row, a substantial number of people from St. Paul’s are involved in Cursillo, which means ‘short course’ in Spanish.

Cursillo has an interesting history. It was started in Spain by people who had been keepers of inns, or ‘albergues’ along the Christian pilgrimage route, the Camino. They were in exile during the Franco regime and wanted to create an inspiring Christian experience, particularly for men.

After World War Two, American servicemen posted in Spain experienced Cursillo and then brought it back to the United States where it soon was created for women too. It has since evolved into an experience with many dimensions, and it has its own distinct language and culture.

This weekend is the Men’s Cursillo and in two weeks is the Women’s Cursillo. Three men and four women associated with St. Paul’s will be ‘making’ their Cursillo. Please pray for them. In addition, over a dozen people from St. Paul’s, in various ways are ‘working’ these Cursillos. Please pray for them too.

My primary passion is forming people in Jesus. Cursillo is an exciting and well developed way to encourage Christian formation, spiritual maturity, community building and even emotional healing.

Please join me in giving thanks for Cursillo.

Blessings,

Christopher
