Hello –
This is the last call for the first round of Learn to Love. Together, we are learning to love God through rich and beautiful language with the help of Christian poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
You can jump in now if you’d like by doing three things:
1. Send me an email at cmartin@stpaulssanrafael.org and I will send you a PDF of the 32 page packet that has all the readings you will need.
2. Watch the video of last week’s class on YouTube. Here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CT31wI_M0M&t=502s
3. Read the poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, found in the packet, looking out for every time the words “Albatross” or “bird/s” is used. We will be comparing our observations and thoughts towards the beginning of tomorrow night’s class.
You can join us either in person in Duncan Hall tomorrow night, Wednesday night, at 7pm or you can join us on Zoom. (I’ll send you a link to Zoom along with the PDF of the packet.)
There were 20 folks who participated last Wednesday night and several others who told me they were going to watch the YouTube video at another time. If you participate, you will be joining what has the potential to be an important community conversation.
My prayer is that we all become more loving as a result of this study and conversation. Personally, I’ve already felt a shift and I believe my heart is expanding through this work with many of you.
If you miss this round, you can still join us when, in May, after a break in April, we shift to learning to love our neighbors by reading three chapters of a great novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
