The heart of our work together for the 16 years I have been your Rector is Christian Practices. Are we practicing the practices Jesus teaches?
The essence of that work in Christian practices is our Discipleship Groups. There are certainly other ways we are invited into the good practices of prayer, service, bible study and so on. But none are as direct and consistent and long term as these small groups that meet once a week and hold us to seven core Christian practices.
Over the last few months 21 of the 28 Discipleship Groups that we know of throughout the country filled out a survey, giving us an accurate picture of the strengths and challenges of this way of being Christian. This Saturday from 9am to 11am is the great reveal of what we learned and some clear teaching of the three things all Discipleship Groups can do to fulfill their amazing potential.
Judy will, as always, be providing her gracious hospitality. Jacob has created a short and easy to follow power point presentation that succinctly summarizes our findings and clearly points the way forward.
Whether or not you are in a group, I strongly encourage you to come. If you in a group, I believe you will return to your group inspired. If you are not yet in a group, you will leave a big step closer to understanding what D Groups are and why they could be a great fit for you.
