The Next Three Weekends

Hello –

The next three weekends each have an important event at St. Paul’s.

1. This Sunday, January 24th, we welcome author Cara Meredith as our preacher. Here’s Kati’s introduction and invitation to the after church book reading:

Cara wrote the book Color of Life and will be reading, discussing and book signing on Sunday with us. You will have the chance to order a book then if you haven’t already. Cara is married to the son of civil rights activist James Meredith, also James. In her memoir she shares her experience and transition as a white evangelical Christian to the enlightened and impacted wife of a black man and mother of two brown boys. Her story opened my eyes to “Need Not Apply” cannot apply to whites anymore. We all must stand up and carry the burden, as Christ did.

I will be leading the discussion and guiding questions on Sunday at Coffee Hour. I hope you will join us! I am so hopeful that St. Paul’s can be a part of our nation recognizing racism and healing from it.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope to *see* on Zoom on Sunday! The information is below.

Many blessings,

Kati

3. The following Sunday, February 7th, is our Annual Meeting at 11am. Two things are unusual this year, First, it will be on Zoom. Second, with our old preschool leaving and our new preschool moving in, our financial picture is more complicated than usual. So, starting at the end of next week, we will be sharing the new financials both on our website and via snail mail. We encourage you to take a look and send your questions ahead of time so that John, our treasurer can prepare responses. Through the chat function of Zoom, you will also be able to ask your questions.

Shortly after this burst of activity, Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on February 17th. We will have a Lenten theme this year where we invite you to imagine that, throughout the weeks of Lent, you are walking alongside Jesus.

Stay safe and, if you can, get your vaccine!

Blessings,

Christopher
