At Sunday’s Annual Meeting we shared with everyone a new brochure we’ve created called The Joy of Serving. I’d like to send one of these brochures to you. (Email me at c.h.mrtn@gmail.com)
The cover of the brochure imitates the look of the book The Joy of Cooking. Inside are 5 “recipes” that describe the 5 ways we serve at St. Paul’s.
This week, we will be mailing 4000 postcards and 1000 brochures to folks in targeted mail routes in San Rafael. We’ll also be putting up a banner on our building and posters in cafes, libraries and bookstores.
Would you consider doing what we asked everyone at the Annual meeting to do? Jacob asked each of us there to take some time this week to read and familiarize ourselves with the brochure. Then he urged us to spend some time reflecting on its contents. (Maybe the call is to invite ourselves to participate in one of the ministries!) Then, he asked us each to come up with a list of people with whom we’d like to share the brochure.

Finally, on Sunday, we are invited to share how many brochures we would like to hand out to our friends and neighbors. Each of us will get the number of brochures we need.
The goal of all three campaigns- the mailings, the banners/posters and the personal touch- is to encourage people to come to two Open Houses we are having on Friday, February 20th from 5:30pm to 7pm and Saturday, February 21st from 10am to 11:30am in Duncan Hall. In addition to our usual great hospitality, folks from all five our our Outreach ministries will be there inviting folks to join us in the Joy of Serving.
This is our biggest new effort of 2026 and has been in the works since last year’s Vestry retreat in March. Please consider emailing me at c.h.mrtn@gmail.com and I’ll mail you a brochure tomorrow, Wednesday. Please join us in spreading the Joy of Serving in San Rafael!
