The Importance of St. Paul’s Disaster Plan

As we crest over the middle of this year and into the heat summer I suddenly realized the importance of one of the projects we have been working on these past months. St. Paul’s has been putting together its own disaster plan to help prepare us for future events that might impact our Parish community and local area overall. This project is been headed up by John Schaver, Michael Welcome and myself. The series of the recent earthquakes in Ridgecrest CA (7.1 a mere 400 miles away) brought this project back into our spotlight to complete. If we moved that quake to the bay area, I’m sure I’d be writing a different message.

We have already begun storing emergency water. On your next trip to Costco, think about donating a case. We are also compiling a check the well-being list. This is a list of people that we should be checking on during a disaster event. If you or you know of someone you think should be on this list, please leave the follow-up contact information with Lorrie or myself. We encourage everyone to have their own disaster plan complete with their own food and water storage (3 days minimum). Check with the Red Cross for more information. I will also be making more announcements in the future regarding the plan so that everyone is aware of it.

Faithfully,
