Spiritually, the big three days are the Triduum, the three days that conclude Holy Week. At. St. Paul’s, practically and emotionally, the big three days of 2026 are the next three days with the conclusion of our Joy of Serving campaign and Erin’s last Sunday as our Curate.
We have been planning this Joy of Serving campaign since last year’s Vestry retreat in March. The campaign itself was launched at the Annual Meeting just over two weeks ago and, in addition to a banner, posters and brochures handed out by parishioners, includes mailers sent out to 3000 homes in San Rafael.
The responses have ben very positive. Already we’ve had seven people reach out and volunteer for our Outreach Ministries, two of whom will not only be coming to our Open Houses, but have said they will bring friends. The response to the design and wit of the brochures has been delight and appreciation.
What remains is the two Open Houses, tomorrow at 5:30pm and Saturday at 10am. To succeed, we need at least nine people there. We need two to help folks check-in, one at each of the five tables for each of the five Outreach Ministries, and then two to wander and make connections.
Please come for at least 45 minutes of one of these two 90 minute sessions. The warmth and hospitality that comes from our community is one of our most attractive features. You are a part of that warmth.
Erin’s last Sunday as our Curate is this Sunday. She will be preaching. We will be offering prayers of blessing and healing and then gifts of thanksgiving for her season as our Curate as she begins her indefinite Medical Leave of Absence. We hope that she returns to us in the future, fully healed, as our Assistant Rector. In the meantime we are sending her off with a gift. In the coming weeks, I’ll have some invitations and reflections on keeping a Holy Lent. For the next three days let’s finish our Joy of Serving Campaign with strength, and let Erin know how much we love her.
