Thank You from K-K-K-Katie

Nov. 12, 2021
Hello Church

A fun thing happened today, I opened my last box. Where I will put it is another matter, but nevertheless, all is opened and somewhat accounted for-oh joy, oh rapture. I have also gone through many a varied email, and found the pictures Bruce Burtch took of  my last day. The pics are great, the faces of so many dear friends are great, me…well, so so! I have printed same and will enjoy looking at them time and time again. What a glorious day it was, and one that I will always remember with gratitude and love.

I have started exploring Walnut Creek, and last Sunday St. Paul’s Walnut Creek was top on my list. They have a fantastic old chapel dating from the late 1880’s which is used for 7:30 service. Hmmm, will I get up to check that out? Probably similar to our 8 o’clock with no music, no choir, no Mike Struck wannabe. The people were most friendly and greeted me very warmly, and Krista (?) the rector was also a warm person. Good possibilities abound, HOWEVER the church is way more modern that I would like, certainly the farthest cry imaginable from dear St. Paul’s San Rafael. No quiet sacred space for sitting.

So, news at 11 as they say, on to St. Anselm’s in Lafayette this Sunday. I truly hope it will be a better fit  for me, but it looks like it will be somewhat of a challenge and religious quest to replace the jewel on Court st. Who am I kidding???? Replace my St. Paul’s? Replace the Rose window? Replace my favorite window of Mt. Tam? Replace Christopher’s wonderful sermons, warmth, humor, and guidance? Replace Duncan Hall fests? Oh, and most of all, replace YOU? Dear people of St. Paul’s know that you are truly special to me, and actually irreplaceable. I took Mike, and Mona, to a place where we can be together, and it is wonderful-all that I wanted. But, all moves come with a price, and leaving you  is a steep one. I knew how much I loved you, but didn’t fully realize till leaving how much you loved me. I can never thank you enough.

All my love, now and always.

KT

And our love to you, Katie!

Blessings,

Christopher
