Hello –
This past week saw a great final burst of activity for our ‘school year.’ Confirmations, a Baptism, a terrific Puccini mass setting sung by our choir, the Sunday School Ice Cream Buffet and an emotionally rich conclusion to over four years of hosting Young Moms Marin.
Now, we shift to a slower summer schedule.
Here are some things to know:
• Both the Tuesday 12:30pm Bible Study and the Thursday 6:15pm Bible Study are on break for the summer. Both resume the week after Labor Day.
• Sunday School, the Youth Group, the choirs and Teen Success Breakfast are also on hiatus and will resume in September.
• But our choir will once again be singing the National Anthem at a Pacifics baseball game- this time it will be Thursday, August 18th at 7pm.
• The Tuesday 7:30am Morning Prayer Service, the Wednesday 10:00am Bible Study and the Sunday 9am Spiritual Forum will all continue through the summer.
• People will continue meeting in the their Discipleship Groups, our North Seg Seven will continue to receive visits and we will continue leading worship at the San Rafael Health Care Center and supporting Vinnies and Ritter.
• The Vestry will be hard at work this summer laying the groundwork for the final push to fund and create the Hardin Courtyard. Vestry meetings are open to the whole parish. There is one tonight at 7pm.
• The City of San Rafael and Marin County are in the process of shifting how they engage with our homeless neighbors. Many of us are slowly engaging in this process because we believe St. Paul’s is an important citizen of San Rafael. This Sunday, at 11:30am, Andrew Hening, who is the new Director of Homeless Planning and Outreach for San Rafael, will be with us to enter into deeper conversation.
• I will be around for most of the summer. We have a 10 day family vacation planned towards the end of this month of June, and will likely be gone for about a week in early August, but otherwise I will be here.
• Finally, I will be sending you an email later this week with two book recommendations for the summer. Both are books I’ve read/re-read recently and believe that many of you will gain a lot by slowly reading these short books over the summer.
Blessings,
Christopher
