Hello –
Because we have so many invitations for you to grow spiritually in the first two months of 2016, I am sending a series of four daily emails. Each email is organized around a key word of our mission, which is ‘following Jesus together in prayer, worship and service.’
Today, I focus on “prayer.” As you may know, I teach that all of us are encouraged to pray for twenty minutes every day. Why? Because research shows that people who pray for twenty minutes or more a day have a much higher level of satisfaction with their prayer life. And I want us all to be spiritually satisfied and happy!
Here are four things:
1. The Newcomer Class this Sunday will focus on prayer. I will teach a variety of ways to pray and I am confident one of them will be right for you. 11:30am.
2. Bible Studies. Tomorrow, Thursday, is the debut of our new 6:15pm Bible Study. This is in addition to Tuesdays at 12:30 and Wednesdays at 10am. Praying, for us, means praying with scripture.
3. Morning Prayer is said every Tuesday morning at 7:30am in our sacred space. This is the perfect way to learn this Daily Office for your own use.
4. Centering Prayer is taught every 2nd an 4th Sunday of the month at 7pm in Duncan Hall.
Jesus invites us to abide in him as he abides in us. Prayer is the practice where we best make that invitation palpable in our daily lives.
Faithfully,
Christopher
