Parking and August B-days

Hello –

First of all, please email me at c.h.mrtn@gmail.com if you or someone you love has a birthday or anniversary in the month of August. We will pray for all by name this Sunday.

Second, this week, with the opening of the De Colores Children’s Center, begins a challenging new era for our little parking lot.

Nothing will change over the weekend and in the evenings. All the spaces in our lot continue to be ours to use and we are welcome to the spaces across the street in the lot of Seagate properties.

However, Monday through Friday, from 8am to 6pm will be more challenging than ever. Here’s what you need to know:

1. If you come to campus during the week, please get a St. Paul’s static sticker to put on the back window of your car. I will be handing them out on Sundays and to all who come by the campus during the week.

2. The parking lot is divided into three areas. The 4 spaces along the Redwood Garden are for St. Paul’s only. The 5 spaces along the chain-link fence are for De Colores Faculty and staff only during weekdays. The 5 spaces along the hedge and the handicapped spot are for either St. Paul’s or De Colores. New signs will soon clearly mark out the three areas.

3. Starting soon, we will have cards widely available for regular users of the lot to put on the windshields of cars that are neither St. Paul’s nor De Colores. (The cards include the invitation to connect with the office if in fact it’s a car that should have a sticker.) We will begin towing multiple offenders.

Please be patient as we work out the new flow of our lot. The good news is that there is almost always parking during the week in the neighborhood north of us and in the multiple city lots a short walk from us.

Finally, we had a delightful ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday to celebrate the opening of the De Colores Children’s Center. Janie and Katie put together a great team to provide hospitality, Valerie and Chloe were there speaking spanish with the families and teachers, and many people enjoyed exploring our sacred space. Finally, great words of welcome and celebration were shared from members of Community Action Marin, St. Paul’s and government leadership of Marin. It was a great day. Blessings,
Christopher
