Joy of Serving in March

Hello –

This is the first of monthly Joy of Serving emails presenting the upcoming service opportunities through St. Paul’s. Welcome to those of you who gave us your emails as part of our February effort to spread the Joy of Serving in San Rafael. There are, to date, twenty of you who have responded. Thank you!

For more information on any of these service opportunities, email me at c.h.mrtn@gmail.com.

Lunch for the Hungry. The next opportunities to make bagged lunches on Wednesday afternoons for Vinnies are March 11th and March 25th at 4pm. One new person helped out last time. With more volunteers we could do it weekly!

Dinner for the Unhoused. This Tuesday, March 10th starting at 3:30pm we serve dinner through the Street Chaplaincy at the First Presbyterian Church in San Rafael. Come from 3:30pm to 5:15 or 5:15 to 6:30pm or both. Three new folks have already signed up. Five volunteers are still needed.

Food for Our Neighbors. Bring non-perishable food any Sunday morning to put in our basket at the back of the church. We give the food to Ritter Center who distribute it to those in need.

Songs for the Lonely. We next sing at the San Rafael Health Care Center on Sunday, March 22nd at 11:30am. One new person joined us last week. They’d like us to come every week and not just once a month!

Letters for Prisoners. The commitment is a letter a month to a condemned inmate in California. Five new folks have signed up, four of whom have already scheduled a half hour orientation session with Erin. We are writing to about thirty prisoners but there are over six hundred condemned inmates in California.

Thank you for your interest in serving those on the margins. Service is at the heart of who we are at St. Paul’s. Our mission is to follow Jesus together in worship, prayer and service.

Again, welcome to those of you who responded to our Joy of Serving invitation. Don’t hesitate to email me at c.h.mrtn@gmail.com with any questions or to sign up to serve.

Blessings,
Christopher
