Greatest Hits of the Week

Greatest Hits of the Week

Hello –

The retreat this past Saturday was a profound experience. A few of us were reflecting on it the next day that it set for us a very deep, quiet tone to not only the rest of the day but, speaking for myself, a tone that continues far into this week.

I plan to share this again in Lent. It will be repeated then along with the Discipleship Group workshop and the workshop that comes a week from Saturday, on the 24th, on finding Jesus in the faces of the least of our neighbors.

In the meantime, there are a range of little things that I want to be sure you are at least aware of.

• We’re aware that the parking lots have become more of a challenge on Sunday mornings because people from Saint Raphael’s have been using our two lots in greater numbers. The folks on the staff of our neighbor church are aware of this and doing the best they can. We’re also talking steps in the next month by putting flyers on people’s windshields and posting people at the entrance to the lots. Please help. Together we can graciously stem this tide.

• Because of a fire inspection last year we’ve installed a new alarm system for both fire and burglary. If you regularly need access to the offices or the sacristy, please contact me so I can give you pointers on the new system.

• A children’s choir is slowly coming into being! We have a few families that have expressed strong interest and a potential leader. Please talk to me or Tenesa if you’re curious.

• On Sunday mornings I’m now planting myself in the conversation area of Duncan Hall from 9am to 9:40am for some fun and serious conversation. I’m calling it ‘Our Deep Christian Roots, Our Grand Christian Story.’ Just by casually mentioning it there have been 4-6 people the last two Sundays. Would you like to rearrange your schedule a bit and drop by from time to time?

• You can also expect some shifts in our post 10am service coffee hour. Neville is taking pictures of people for some posters that will feature our names. Name tags are now out most of the time. I’m more committed than ever to spending that time in conversation with people, especially those that are new or returning after a time away. And we continue to look at other ways to increase our hospitality. That coffee hour is our most regular time of broad community building.

• Work continues on a flexible sound system to help those who have trouble hearing at the services.

And, as always, our Sunday program for children and our Marin Episcopal Youth Group hum along, our Discipleship Groups are slowly adding people, our choirs sound great, St. Anne’s continues its craft-filled and sociable work and our seven outreach programs do their good work of serving the least in Marin.

Onward!

Blessings,

Christopher
