Dear Friends –
Although neither Sue nor George ever savored extra attention, we are paying extra attention to George and Sue this weekend.
Pre-pandemic, we would have had a full Memorial Service on Saturday for the two of them to which you all would have been invited. Because we don’t feel comfortable with more than 60 people in the church right now, the Memorial Service is restricted to family only.
However, because Sue and George were a matriarch and patriarch of St. Paul’s, and because we know so many of you wish to mourn their deaths with other Christians and with music and communion, we will also be celebrating their lives and mourning their deaths at the Sunday 10am service. The readings and my sermon will be identical to those of the Memorial Service. In addition, we’ll be singing the hymns that Sue requested and, because she wanted Rite One, we’ll be saying the Prayer of Humble Access at communion.
Both the Memorial Service and the Sunday morning worship will be broadcast live on Facebook Live and Youtube.
Please join me this weekend in giving thanks for the lives of Sue and George, in mourning their deaths and in praying for the repose of their souls.
