Hello –
This Sunday is our Annual Meeting where we review the year that has past, look to the year to come, feed you lunch and get you out by 1pm, in plenty of time for the Super Bowl.
I also want to briefly remind you that my new class “With Gladness and Singleness of Heart,” begins on Ash Wednesday, February 26th, at a little after 7pm, and that I am, between now and Easter, carrying around a red book in which I am trying to capture the funeral wishes of as many of us as possible.
Now, without further ado, a good word from Jacob Moody, the leader of our RenewalWorks team:
Last week the RenewalWorks Group re-presented its Roadmap with its Landmarks and Signposts.
It is important to have just a bit more knowledge of its origins.
After taking the Spiritual Inventory from Renewal Works St. Paul’s Vestry commissioned Jacob Moody, Judy Rowcliffe, Joan Adams, Michael Green, Kate Sprague, Walter Tanner with Christopher to analyze the data sent to us from Renewal Works and to enter into the process it recommended to move the data from observation to action. The suggested Renewal Works Process while interesting did not really fit St. Paul’s and sent the RWG in a slightly different direction for its implementation work.
However, one key element of the work that Renewal Works has done with the hundreds of churches that have given it data in this process is the development of a framework for understanding the spiritual growth of individuals within the community of Christians. This framework and the stages it presents are the foundation upon which the Roadmap is built and the goals toward which the Roadmap is heading. The framework is as follows:
As we move into this second year of work with the Roadmap the above framework allows us to locate ourselves on it and invites us, once located, to engage with the question of where do you want to go in your spiritual development? The Roadmap is designed to allow you to both engage in the question and support growth with others in the congregation towards reaching deeper into our own faith.
Next week we look at the first Landmark.
Blessings,
Christopher
