A somewhat hidden but profound ministry at St. Paul’s is our ministry of intercessory prayer. We carefully keep a list of the prayer concerns of our wider community. Every Sunday in the bulletin there’s a list of names of those for whom prayer is most urgent (for example Phil F, Emily M, Earl). In addition, we keep the names of those who are more chronic. There are a few people who make praying through the whole list part of their spiritual practice. In addition, the list needs careful attention so that the prayers can be up to date and appropriate.
Might you be called to this ministry of prayer? It is one of the practices that clearly distinguishes us from a secular volunteer organization. We care and love one another in the mystery of Jesus, and this practice of intercessory prayer is one manifestation of that. This is an invitation to pray the list and also to help us curate the list through calls texts and emails to the ones who put the names on the list.
