Hello –
First of all, I’m pleased to announce that last Sunday’s Death Row Christmas Card writing party produced 956 cards, enough for each of the 29 inmates in the Death Row Ministry to receive nearly 30 cards. Thanks to Erin, to all of you who contributed, to the support of the Episcopal Impact Fund, and to our many participants from nearly ten other churches.
Now, here’s what’s still coming up…
• The Angel Tree will be up in the Narthex tomorrow. Please grab a card and buy a Christmas gift for a student at the De Color’s Head Start Preschool. On Wednesday, December 17th we will have a lovely evening of gift sharing.
• We will not have Bible Study this Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving.
• If you would like Eucharist (The Great Thanksgiving) on Thanksgiving, please consider joining our neighbors at Nativity at 9am.
• I invite you to join me in serving dinner to our precariously housed neighbors on Tuesday December 2nd at the Presbyterian Church in downtown San Rafael. You can either come at 4pm and set up or a little later to serve and clean up. Email me at c.h.mrtn@gmail.com.
• Our annual Singalong for Saints and Sinners with the San Francisco Boys Chorus will be on Monday, December 15th at 7pm with reception to follow. Please bring food for the Ritter basket.
Finally, those of you in church last Sunday got to meet our next Music Director, Vincent Kinnard. Vincent grew up in San Francisco where he was part of the choir at St. Dominic’s and graduated from Saint Ignatius. He studied Economics and Organ performance at Oberlin and, for the last eights years, was assistant organist at an Anglican Church in Winnipeg. He will be joining the choir in December and begins as our Music Director in January. We interviewed four excellent candidates, each of whom could have done the job, and Vincent was our unanimous pick. (I led the hiring process with Mike, Pat, and Tom.) Please welcome Vincent!
Blessings,
Christopher
