Hello –
We have four things coming up that I’d like you all to know about:
• The Back to School BBQ is next Sunday, August 25th. This annual event is filled with great grilled foods cooked by our St. Paul’s dads, fun sides, fun music and, this year, a super cool multi-media presentation by Erin that lays the ground work for her ministry with youth and young adults. She’ll be showing it in Duncan Hall at 11:30am and noon. I learned a lot from it and was inspired and believe you will be too. (It’s also the week we sing and pray at the San Rafael Health Care Center- you can do both!)
• The Transcending Contempt Practice Group begins Saturday, September 7th at 9am in Duncan Hall. These Saturday, hour-long sessions run through the election in November and are a combination of teaching, conversation and support. We begin with basic practices of breathing a low anxiety and build toward strengthening the practical virtue of hope, which best counters despair, the root of contempt.
• Betty Hardin’s Funeral will be the same day, Saturday, September 7th, at 11am. Like Hugh’s and Mark’s funerals this one is carefully planned and filled with meaningful music and personal touches. Your are welcome to come and celebrate the life of one of our beloved matriarchs. There will be a full reception afterwards.
• Godly Play, our Sunday School program returns to St. Paul’s this year during the 10am service on Sunday, September 8th. It’s in the Upper Room in a specially designed space to evoke playful and reverent learning. Contact Kati at kdombrosky@gmail.com to sign up.
With the ministries of Kati and Erin, this year we are truly serving all ages and generations at St. Paul’s.
Blessings,
Christopher
