Hello –
Two weeks from tomorrow, on Sunday August 14th, is the first of what we hope will be our annual Back to School BBQ. This year, we will feature the music of a great youth jazz ensemble, good food and an opportunity to write messages of love and support to families and others in Odessa, Ukraine. It’s from 11:30am to 1pm at the church.
I write to ask you to invite any families you know, from whatever context, to this event- extended families of your own, neighbors, people you know from work or clubs or shopping- anyone! The event will be as fun and engaging for children as for teens.
This is the fourth of our public events on our Runway for Growth. Each event is designed to be easy to invite people we know to come and see just a little of who we are. Each of these events rely on us, the people of St. Paul’s, to be a success. The more people we invite, the more fun we have and the greater the possibility of growth. Churches these days grow through relationship, not attraction.
There are attractive postcards at the back of the church and on the porch in front of Duncan Hall. Please grab a few this week and hand them out to the families in your life. And remember, churches the intend to grow, tend to grow.
I look forward to seeing many of your tomorrow back in church. Chloe and I have had a glorious vacation and I can tell you, from my personal visit, that former parishioner Tom S. send his love from York, England.
