Hello –
On Wednesday night, June 1st, I begin teaching how to love our neighbors through reading three chapters of a great novel. Together, we are going to humbly use our imaginations to picture ourselves in the midst of three extreme situations portrayed in one of Dostoevsky’s four great novels. I will share with you all you need to know to read each chapter with curiosity and pleasure. And then the next week we’ll discuss. The class begins at 7pm in Duncan Hall or on Zoom. Email me at cmartin@stpaulssanrafael.org for the PDF of the chapter with which we’ll start and the Zoom link. Some characters treat others with contempt, other characters treat others with reverence. Which is which? How can we tell? What can we learn about loving others?
On Sunday, June 5th, we have our first Pentapalooza, a celebration of our vibrant life at St. Paul’s. Right after the worship service at 10am, you will be invited to walk through Duncan Hall and do three things.
• First, Chloe will take your photo for a new picture directory for St. Paul’s.
• Next, you’ll walk through a display of our nearly thirty small groups, both to learn of all the vibrant life at St. Paul’s and to reflect on where you might best fit in.
• Finally, in June, we’ll be launching our Irresistible Welcome Bag for newcomers. On June 5th, if you’ve had your picture taken and have checked out all our groups, you are welcome to a canvas bag, a Contigo water bottle and a pen and paper, if you promise to use them in front of others! As we go down our runway for growth together, we want to get our name and beautiful logo out into the streets of Marin.
Join us to learn to love on Wednesday and as we celebrate Pentapalooza next Sunday.
