Hello –
• This Sunday we pray for those who have birthdays or anniversaries in September. If this is true of you or someone you love, please email me at c.h.mrtn@gmail.com.
• We’d like to make the Prayers of the People in the worship service, which comes after the sermon and before the Peace, more inter-active. So, three things:
1. We’re going to start using Form II in the Book of Common Prayer, pp 385-86. The form bids prayers in six areas- the church, justice/peace, those in need or trouble, those seeking God, the departed, the saints/witnesses.
2. The leader will hold a long pause after each petition, which will encourage all of us who are in the space to chime in, either softly or a bit louder, with whatever our concerns are.
3. In addition, starting the following Sunday, the leader of the prayers will have advice with him or her at the ambo, so that those of you who are watching on Facebook live can put your petitions in the chat box. The leaders will read aloud the petitions that come in at the time of the prayers.
This new way of doing prayers of the people is both more interactive and allows those who are watching worship to participate.
• Our Contemplative Time on Sunday evenings is growing and developing. It now begins at 5:30pm with a mediation sit in the church. You are welcome to come in at any time, but please keep the silence. The worship then begins at 6pm and ends before 6:30pm. Last Sunday we had two newcomers come to the service because they read about it on our website!
