Our Gifts to the Future

Dear Friends,

Last week we had the honor of installing a large brass plaque in the sanctuary in honor of the Rev. Hugh F. Hardin. Hugh’s plaque joins plaques in honor of two of his predecessors, the Rev. Ernest Hartmann and the Rev. Ernest Bradley. Hugh was Rector of St. Paul’s from 1967 to 1993 and was once again a member of St. Paul’s when he died unexpectedly last year. We hope to bless the plaque soon.IMG_8013

We are also hard at work preparing for our next push to create the Hardin Courtyard, a courtyard for St. Paul’s that is safe, accessible and beautiful. On Sunday, August 21st, after the 10am service, we are having a community meeting in our newly re-floored Duncan Hall to share with you all the work that has happened so far, to share with you the current thinking of the Vestry and other lay leaders, and gather your reactions and ideas. It will also include a tour of the courtyard so you can picture the proposed changes in our latest design, which is the 4th draft so far. We are hoping to start work in May of next year. This gathering will be the first of several community meetings as we tackle this formidable and essential project that will be a great gift for generations to come.

We, together, are stewards of our sacred space and of our campus. Let us bear in mind that what we a creating is sanctuary. These are anxious times and people want to know that there are places of reliable goodness. By God’s grace and in following Jesus, we are led to goodness together. Faithfully, prudently and with good taste, we together can create a whole campus where all people are invited to worship the Lord in the beauty of Holiness.

Faithfully,
Christopher
