Serve Dinner Tuesday? (Plus)

Hello –

I have a thing I invite you to consider, but first, a couple of seasonal announcements:

• There are only 11 cards left on the Angel Tree. Come to church early on Sunday to grab one of them if you want to participate. Thank you to all of you who already took the other 39 cards! The cards are for Christmas presents for the children at the De Color’s Preschool.

• Monday, the 15th is our annual Singalong for Saints and Sinners at 7pm. Our Chancel Choir will be joined by the San Francisco Boys Chorus. There’s a reception afterwards.

I’d like to invite you to consider joining me this coming Tuesday, December 2nd, at the Presbyterian Church across from the San Rafael library, to serve dinner with the Marin Street Chaplaincy. Set-up starts at 4pm and dinner is done by 7pm, but you don’t need to come for the whole time.

Nativity is leading the evening and they already have ten volunteers. There are already six of us from St. Paul’s who will be there. The reason I encourage you to come is we are considering serving our own dinner on a quarterly basis starting in January or February.

I want to know if we have enough people to take on that responsibility. So far, nine people have expressed interest. I believe that if a total of twelve to fifteen of us are interested in this ministry, we can be part of the Marin Street Chaplaincy in 2026.

So, Tuesday is a kind of test. Is feeding our hungry neighbors dinner a ministry we would like to add? You may remember that, before COVID, we had a thriving Teen Success Breakfast ministry. For a variety of reasons, the County Community School is not interested in restarting that ministry. If we are going to feed our hungry neighbors directly, this is our best chance. Are you feeling called to that good work?

If so, even if you can’t come Tuesday, please email me at c.h.mrtn@gmail.com. Thanks for considering.

Blessings,

Christopher
