Hello –
There seems to be a particularly tricky email going out right now that pretends to be from me. Please always check the email that it’s coming from. If it’s not cmartin@stpaualssanrafael.org or c.h.mrtn@gmail.com, it’s not from me.
If you got one of these, I don’t think you’ve been hacked. Rather people hunt around to find emails of parishioners at churches and then send messages from fake emails pretending to be the pastor. Please, always check.
Here’s the text of the current scam:
“I received this email this morning. I assume it’s a scam. Wondering if you should warn others not to reply to this email if they receive it, as who knows what would happen as a result.
Good morning XXXX,
How are you doing? Kindly let me know if you’re less busy at the moment. I have a request for you to manage confidentially. I will be into a meeting in a few minutes, no calls so kindly respond via email.
Blessings,
Reverend Christopher H. Martin”
Finally, I never refer to myself as Reverend Christopher H. Martin. That’s not proper. It’s The Reverend Christopher H. Martin! : )
Blessings,
Christopher
