2 Conversations Begin This Week

Hello –

In the next week we start 2 conversations, both of them about books that are important to us at St. Paul’s right now.

On Sunday at 11:30am Tanner begins leading conversations based on Kate Moorehead’s book Healed, which gives a new, faithful and useful interpretation of Mary Magdalene. Kate’s 18 short meditations are the perfect launching off points for conversations about mental illness, discipleship and women claiming authority. Tanner has studied with one of the foremost experts on Mary Magdalene and so is well prepared to facilitate.

Next Wednesday, the 25th, at 7pm in Duncan HallI begin a series called A User’s Guide to the Book of Common Prayer. Most have only dipped our toe in the water of this great book. Come and learn to swim. There are beautiful, wise and always scripture soaked prayers, rituals and resources throughout that funny red book that sits inert in the pews most days of the week. I begin with the end. Through a little courage and some creativity, you can give your family and friends the gift of a well planned funeral. It is preceded by optional Evening Prayer at 6:30pm in the church.

Thursday evening Bible Study does not start tonight. Rather, it starts next Thursday, the 26th, at 6:15 in the Downing Library. We will read the book of James.

Finally, thank you to all of you who came to Pelican last night. It was a gift to me to be able to share it with you.

Blessings,

Christopher
