Marion’s Memorial Service

Hello –

Tomorrow, Saturday, at 10am, the Memorial Service for Marion Cedarblade will be at St. Paul’s.

Marion was a steadfast, strong and cheerful servant of the church. She was a woman of great fortitude and integrity. There was a time where anyone of any standing in the Diocese of California knew and respected Marion and when, further, she was very well known in national church circles and listened to with great attention.

She was also a writer with a fine wit. I first met Marion in my first week in the office at St. Paul’s. Marion came in to my office, introduced herself, and handed me a manila envelope stuffed with every monthly interview with parishioners she had published in our monthly newsletter. It was the greatest possible gift for a new rector as it gave me a terrific head start in getting to know so many of you.

Marion and her children have been central members of the St. Paul’s family at least since the early 60s. It is sad and sweet that Hugh and Marion died at about the same time. This month, as a community, we have cause to grieve and, even more, cause to give great thanks for the lives of these two pillars of our Christian life at St. Paul’s.

Blessings,

Christopher
