Hugh’s Funeral Saturday 11am

Hello –

Tomorrow, Saturday, is the funeral of the Rev. Hugh Hardin, rector of St. Paul’s for 28 years. It is an incredibly significant event in the life of St. Paul’s. It will be Holy Eucharist Rite One with lost of music. There will be a casket and, at the end of the service, Marines will present the flag and play Taps.

We are expecting a lot of people. The Hardins are expecting 60 family members, which will fill at least a third of our church. With that knowledge, please bear the following in mind:

• Plan to arrive early. I recommend at least 10:30.

• If you don’t have any mobility issues, park in the upper level of the San Rafael lot behind Marin Joe’s. The entrance to the upper level is on 3rd St. between Lootens and A. The Upper Level has all day parking. This is important because, even if you find street parking, it’s only for two hours. You can walk directly from the north side of the upper level of the parking lot to a wide alley to 4th St., and then through the plaza to St. Paul’s. Here’s the map. (If by some chance that’s full, turn onto A and go to the lot behind Il Davide.)

• For people with mobility issues, pull up to the white painted curb on Court, in front of the church. There should be ushers there to help you.

• Remember that, in addition to the bathrooms by the Vestry, there is also a bathroom at the end of the hall on the second floor and two bathrooms at the top of the staircase in the education wing.

• There will be a reception afterwards co-hosted by our St. Anne’s Guild and members of Christ Church, Sausalito, where Hugh and Betty were beloved members for some years.

Tomorrow, those of us who are members of the household of St. Paul’s gather to both mourn a beloved leader and friend. We also have the honor of welcoming many guests and members of our extended family. Let us be gracious, patient and open hearted as we together grieve the death and celebrate the life of our brother Hugh.

Blessings,

Christopher
