Where: St. Paul’s, San Rafael and the Ralston White Retreat Center
When: February 22-25, 2018, The Weekend of the Second Sunday in Lent
Who: Lay leaders and clergy of any Christian denomination, limited to 40 people
Cost: $100 deposit to secure a spot. See registration button below.
Guests will fly in Thursday and, with our guidance, make their way to the retreat center, located in Mill Valley, in southern Marin.
On Friday, after breakfast, guests will take a shuttle to St. Paul’s in San Rafael. The morning will feature a Discipleship Group Workshop, the afternoon a range of sessions that people can choose from, each centered on one of the seven core practices. The evening will feature the premiere of a performance piece called Pelican, an allegorical pilgrimage of a Christian soul.
Saturday morning features more sessions, a break in the afternoon to hike and relax and then a feast at the church for participants and leaders.
Sunday features worship and then either an experience of the Sunday Forum or a visit to one of our seven brothers in Christ on San Quentin’s Death Row. The Retreat comes to a conclusion by noon.
The purpose is to encourage people to get into and nurture Discipleship Groups and so practice the seven core Christian practices. Discipleship Groups are the essential structure for becoming a rigorous church, and we believe that only rigorous churches will survive and thrive in our increasingly secular environment.
