A Beautiful Part 1

Hello –

Because my enthusiasm for next week’s events celebrating our 150th Anniversary knows no bounds, I want to take a whole email to share my excitement for the first of our three great events- Evensong.

Way back in the days when we used to listen to CDs, I had a huge collection of Evensong CDs. I had recordings of choirs from Salisbury Cathedral to our local Grace Cathedral singing this powerful and moving service. Although the service is only about half an hour long, it is perfectly crafted. There is a rich tradition of musical settings and they all capture the feel of worship at sunset.

I am particularly looking forward to experiencing this warm and deep music in our warm and deep space. Two further elements will add breadth to the service. First, Bishop Marc will be helping to lead the service. Second, our brothers and sister from other Marin churches will be there, many of whom will bring their banners to acknowledge the Episcopal mother church of Marin. Both will be a great reminder that we are blessed to part of a much bigger family.

Finally, after this time of gorgeous music and rich prayer, we will all go to Duncan Hall where there will be a spread of Desserts, many in an English style accompanied by various libations.

We offer this Evensong for the glory of God and in honor of our patron saint. January 25th, every year, is the feast of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle, which is why we will gather together next Thursday evening at 7pm and worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

See you there.

Blessings,

Christopher
